Vietnam Pangasius Export 2025: Strong Growth and Golden Opportunities for Global Importers

November 28, 2025 – Vietnam’s pangasius industry continues to lead the global market with impressive growth in 2025. As one of the top pangasius suppliers worldwide, Vietnam offers high-quality, sustainable, and competitively priced products.

Export Value Growth: Surpassing $1.8 Billion in 10 Months

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Vietnam’s pangasius export in October 2025 reached $217 million, up 8% from the same period in 2024. For the first 10 months of the year, the total pangasius export value exceeded $1.8 billion, reflecting steady growth driven by recovering demand in key markets. This positions pangasius as the second-largest contributor to Vietnam’s seafood exports, pushing the overall seafood export target toward $11 billion for 2025. With an annual production of about 1.75 million tons, Vietnam remains the world’s leading producer of pangasius. Provinces in the Mekong Delta, such as Dong Thap, play a major role, with pangasius production value estimated at over VND 9,700 billion in 2025. Vietnamese pangasius suppliers adhere to international standards like ASC, GlobalGAP, and BAP, ensuring safe, eco-friendly products for global markets.

Key Markets: China Leads, EU and CPTPP Accelerate

China remains a bright spot for Vietnam pangasius export, with strong recovery and projections for higher growth by year-end due to festival seasons. In October, exports to China hit a yearly high of $73 million, up 19% year-over-year, accounting for nearly 27% of total pangasius exports. This is a prime opportunity for importers in Asia-Pacific. In the EU, Vietnam pangasius export reached $149 million in the first 10 months, up 3%, thanks to shortages of whitefish in Europe. Experts view this as a “golden opportunity” for Vietnamese pangasius, offering affordable and superior quality alternatives. EU importers can rely on stable supplies from Vietnam, supported by free trade agreements like EVFTA that reduce tariffs.

Future Outlook: Market Diversification and Sustainability

Forecasts for the last two months of 2025 indicate continued growth in Vietnam pangasius export, bolstered by stable raw material prices and global demand recovery. VASEP recommends focusing on value-added products and expanding into the Middle East and South America to mitigate risks. The industry is committed to sustainable development, with rigorous quality controls from farming to export.
